Hello my lovely readers!
How is your spooky day going? What are your plans for tonight?
I finally can cross one more thing off my list of fall plans. I baked some nice Halloween cookies! :).
Sue suggested me to make a spice cookie, such as the German Spekulatius. And I did, using her recipe, which you can find here. I simply substituted the regular sugar for raw cane sugar and I used whole wheat flour. This made the cookies more crisp and browner in appearance. Instead of using the traditional Spekulatius molds I just prepared some circles in order to decorate them as spider webs. Well, the results are a delicious spiced halloween cookie, that could improve in decoration – next year I will try again:)!
See you all tomorrow!

Hello you guys!
Thank you so much for stopping by! This week’s sound is something Asian, a song that my little host siblings in China would turn on on the TV and just move the furniture and start dancing. Really, super cute! I hope you are liking it, too :).
What are you listening to these days? Any good recommendations?

A wonderful good morning to all of you guys!
Firstly I need to apologize, it has been a while since I last posted. The new semester has started and developmental, diagnostic and clinical psychology (+a couple of more…) is keeping me busy. But here it goes again! I know that you guys enjoyed my posts on Philly, capturing some moments of our trip to the U.S. east coast during the summer/fall and so I give you today a special treat and show you some of my pictures taken in Hamilton Park, New Jersey, looking right at Manhattan’s skyline.
What are you doing these day? Are you also totally caught up in work/college/school/parenting :)?
P.S.: Don’t forget to keep checking in, I have some great posts coming up. Let’s just say that I am not done with New York, Manhattan, yet.

Good morning you guys!
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! After traveling for quite some months around the American continent I am pretty happy to be home again – in Germany as well as in my hometown Magdeburg.
Therefore I give you a little impression of my city. This post is just a little preview, there are a lot of different things that I am planning for this blog and a series on Magdeburg is one of them. So, stay tuned! And thank you so much for stopping by and reading and looking around here on sparklingcrane today!
What are you looking at here? It’s Otto von Guericke who experiences a lot about the Magdeburg hemispheres that I included as well. Also to see is our cathedral, the Dom, our opera, some art of Hundertwasser, an abandoned factory and some green sights of the city.
I do like my city and if you happen to be around this part of Germany you should definitely stop by!
See you all tomorrow!

It’s time again to share some music with you guys! I have been practicing to play this on the piano for some time. Progress: más o menos. Anyway, I really like this piece and I hoe you will enjoy it, too!
See you soon!

Good morning my lovely readers!
How are you doing? Today I will give you some more pictures of Penn’s campus in Philadelphia just as I promised before. Both of my host parents work for the university and therefore on campus and they showed us around and took us for some great lunch at the Irish Pub (recommendations for the grilled cheese!).
Have you ever been to Penn’s campus? If you get the chance you should definitely do so!

Good evening you guys!
How are you on this lovely Monday? I finally got the chance to catch up on my plans for the fall (which you can read all about here).
I prepared some applesauce and also carved a pumpkin! I checked out some things on pinterest, but couldn’t find the right idea to go with and in the end I decided not to be too creative (anyway not my strength) and also didn’t go for any typical halloween-spooky pattern and simply decided for some nice stars.
Have you carved a pumpkin for this halloween? How did it turn out?
